Nae Nae’s Cinnamon Rolls in an Hour
Submitted by Jenae Bethers - added 8/20/26
For an indulgent breakfast or dessert. 🤭 This is a General Conference-morning favorite in our home. Magically, you can eat twice as many if you do so while they are still very warm from being in the oven. (Originally shared in the University Ward Cookbook.)
Ingredients
- Dough:
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups VERY warm water
- 1 1/2 tablespoons yeast
- 1/2 cup oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 5 cups flour
- butter (about 1/4-1/2 C)
- cinnamon
- sugar
- Glaze:
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
Instructions
- Stir 1/3 cup sugar, 1 1/2 cups very, very warm water, and 1 1/2 tablespoons yeast together and set aside for 15 minutes.
- Add 2 eggs, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, and 5 cups flour.
- Knead for 5 minutes, then let it rise for 10 minutes.
- Make rolls for dinner or…better yet…follow these next steps for cinnamon rolls:
- Roll dough out and smooth butter over surface.
- GENEROUSLY sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over butter.
- Roll up and cut into 3/4-in to 1-in slices using tooth floss or thread.
- Bake at 425F for 10 minutes.
- For glaze: Mix powdered sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla.
- Drizzle glaze over top of cinnamon rolls.
